Ebay Wants Quality Not Just Quantity From Affiliates
Ebay announced changes to its affiliate program as of Aug 1st. Ebay has decided to change the way it pays its affiliates for new user signups. Previously all new users that placed a bid through an affiliates link payed the affiliate $25.00. As of Aug 1st that will be changing depending on the quality of the user you send to Ebay. Ebay will base the payout for new users on how they expect the quality of that user to be in the future. The payout will give the affiliate anywhere from $1-50.00 for new users. The more active and valuable the new user is that the affiliate send to ebay the movr you will receive. This new payout structure will be for all new affiliates starting after Aug 1st. Those that have been affiliates prior to Aug 1 will continue on current payout for a few month to evaluate their traffic. Ebay's goal is to reward affiliates that send quality lifetime users to ebay instead of one shot wonders. Are you a person that frequents garage sales? Do you stop at every thrift shop and flea market you see? If so why? I happen to be one of those people and not because I enjoy looking through endless piles of junk or pre-owned clothes, I do it to make money. It amazes me how much money is just lying around on some poor souls garage sale table waiting for me to take it. The old saying “ one man’s junk is a another man’s treasure” is absolutely true. I can’t tell you how many thousands of dollars I’ve made over the years off of other people’s junk.
I got started as a young boy watching my father hitting garage sales looking for antiques for his booth at the local antique mall. I watched as he haggled at each garage sale over a few dollars, this process totally amazed me. I soon took up following his lead, read books on many different types of antiques and collectibles, and soon learned the value of what I wanted to find. This later led me to become an auctioneer and open my own auction house but I’ll save that for another day.
My whole point with this article is to make you open your eyes and realize that this is something everyone can do to make extra money. If you want to be come good at the art of making money from garage sale and flea market finds you need to do some studying.
Spend time going to auctions, browsing eBay, reading antique price guides and magazines to get a solid foundation at knowing an items true value. Key things you need to learn to make money through garage sales are:
How old is it? - Look for maker’s marks. Learn the different ways manufactures marked their items. Usually you can determine an antiques age just by looking at the makers mark.
What is it made of? You need to learn the difference between pewter, lead, copper, bronze and many other metals. Know the different types of clay and pottery glazes. Learn to know the difference between acrylic and oil paints. If you ever going to make money through garage sales you need to learn.
Is it a fake? Just as important as knowing an antiques age and value is knowing when you have a fake. Many of the most popular antiques on the market today are reproductions and people just don’t know it. If it is a fake is it worth any money? Yes some are if you know which ones to look for. There are just as many books on reproduction antiques as there are on real antiques READ THEM. Knowing what your buying is one of the most important things when it comes to making money from garage sales.
If you get a basic understanding of each of these things you’ll be well ahead of most when it comes to making money from garage sales.

Extra Income | You Can Make Money On EBay With Out Selling Items
If you are not familiar with BANS (build a niche store), its basically a script that creates website specifically designed for EBay’s affiliate program
EBay’s affiliate program is much like any other affiliate program. You get paid in a couple ways.
1.When a user clicks on a link from your site and goes to ebay and buys an Item through auction or immediate purchase EBay pays you 50% of their a commission. Example: is eBay makes $5 you get $2.50
2.When users that have never registered to eBay sign up for eBay and bid on and Item. You get $25
BANS is software that helps you to create all the links you need to specific products on EBay.
What you need to use BANS with eBay
1. An eBay user account and affiliate account.
2. A web hosting account: I use Hostgator, as do many others with BANS sites. buy a Reseller account if you can afford it. I’m using a standard hosting package with my 10 sites right now but can see that I will have to upgrade if I keep making BANS sites.
3. A domain name. Currently GoDaddy is selling “.info” domains for $1.99
The strategy behind using Ebay’s affiliate program is to focus in on a specific product or group of products. For example Scissors there are many types, sized and brands of scissors. You could build an entire BANS site on just scissors.
Example : Left handed scissors, kid safe scissors, vintage sewing scissors.
This doesn’t mean your BANS site has to be limited to just 3 pages but you should have 3 primary keyword to get users to your site from Google. Once you have keyword authority for those primary keywords you can then start targeting others.

In several of my previous posts I've discuss how making money from eBay relies on finding items to sell from garage sales, auctions and flea markets. Some things to keep in mind when your hitting your local garage sales. Spring time brings lots of sports items to look for. Little league is starting, fishing season is just beginning in most areas, golfers will be going nuts from now until the end of the summer, family camping trips start happening. If you keep the season in mind when your looking for items to sell on eBay you'll be way ahead of the game. Sell things people need not just junk you think looks pretty. While antiques and collectibles always sell well they will never surpass the demand of an item that is regularly used by everyone. Used golf balls and used fishing reels are some of my favorite items to sell this time of year.

Extra Income | Ebay Affiliate Program Change
In my last article I mentioned the possibility of making extra income from eBay by allowing others to do the selling for you. This is done by many using their affiliate program and a couple different methods of creating websites specifically designed for EBay affiliates. BANS was the software I brought up in the last post but there are several others that are similar. Anyone that is already set up and running a website designed for the EBay affiliate program needs to be aware that there are major changes taking place.
EBay makes a major change in their affiliate program beginning on April 1st. Currently, EBay uses Commission Junction and Valueclick to handle most of their affiliate program tracking and payments. The eBay affiliate program has been relied upon by many as a primary source of extra income. I must say I have used it in the past, but it hasn't been a significant part of the extra money I make on the Internet.
According to eBay bringing their affiliate program in house will have several benefits to their users including:
- Better reporting of statistics
- Targeted Banners and rich media
- Geo-targeting and landing page improvements
- Global registration to many countries at once.
Ebay will launch its new affilate program and maintain its existing partnership with Commision Junction through May 1st. Anyone wanting to participate or that is already a part of the ebay affiliate program should make sure they are set up with the new program before the May 1st deadline.

As discussed in some of my previous articles the quickest way to make more money now is by using ebay. This method of making extra money and income is definately not new any more. Large companies are even getting into the picture. Companies like Dell, HP, GE and many others are selling refurbished or reconditioned producted through ebay and are making a killing. You can capitalize of all these large companies being and the added clout they bring to ebay buy making extra income off of the products they sell. How can you make money off of an item someone else is selling on ebay? It's easy ebay has learned like many larger companies to start an affiliate program. My last topic on making extra income covered knowing what to sell. Today I'll cover a little more about what to do after you have found a few items to sell. Nobody ever wants to sell something and find out he or she could have made more money if they had only done their research. Once you have your item at home you must do an eBay search on it to see if others are selling it and for how much. That will give you a basic idea of its value. In addition to that you need to find out some specifics about the item to post in your auction ad. Things to consider are who is the manufacture, how old is the item, what is its condition, and are there any specific terms used by collectors relating to the item you have? Things to look up on the Internet and resource books:
1. Where was it made and who made it?
2. When was it made?
3. Are there any unique features or characteristics that you need to know about?
4. Is there a collector market for it?
Everything you need to know can be found on the Internet on just about any item you have to sell. You can determine lots of information about an item just by looking for labels or marking that were put on by the manufacture. These markings will also help in determining its age. Maker’s marks, labels and company logos usually change over time. Learning these things about the item you found and relaying them to your buyers will definitely help you increase the amount of money you make on the item.
Once you have all the information you need its time to list the item for sale. You are now well on your way to making extra money by selling items on ebay.
